A Century of Experience

St. Casimir School, began as five spacious classrooms on the first floor of the newly built St. Casimir’s Church in November of 1902. Established to meet the needs of the growing Polish community in the area, our first students received instruction in both Polish and English. The first nuns to teach in the school, the Felician Sisters of Lodi, N.J., were succeeded in 1921 by the Franciscan Sisters of Hamburg, N.Y. who conducted the school until 2002.

Over the years the school has moved through several buildings, growing into its current location in 1954. In 1975 the schools of St. Casimir and St. Stanislaus Parishes merged into Father Kolbe School due to the demographic changes in the area.

On July 1, 2008, Father Kolbe School was welcomed back as the parish school of the Faith Community of St. Casimir and renamed St. Casimir Catholic School.

We continue to be a faith-filled center of learning in the Canton Community where our tradition of excellence continues generation after generation.
St. Casimir Catholic School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Facility

St. Casimir Catholic School is located in the heart of Canton on Kenwood Avenue and O’Donnell Street. Our facility houses bright spacious classrooms for grades PreK to 8. All of our classroom computers are networked with Internet access. Our facility includes a fully networked computer lab with Internet access, two 24-laptop mobile lab carts for classroom use, student library, an art lab, and a multipurpose room housing music, science, and Spanish. Our students participate at Mass and other liturgical celebrations in St. Casimir Church which is directly across the street from the school. The spacious parish gymnasium and cafeteria are available for the school’s use as needed as well as St. Anthony Hall and the St. Joseph Cupertino Center.

Communication

St. Casimir Catholic School works in partnership with parents to assist students to reach their full potential. This communication between home and school is critical to student success. In August a School Calendar is provided to each family listing all events throughout the year. A Tuesday Folder is sent home with all graded work for the week, as well as any teacher or school notices, Parent Newsletter and Home & School Association update.

Parents of students in grades 3-8 have Parent Access to their child’s grades on-line through the Power School Student Information System. Faculty members maintain contact with parents as necessary to promote student success.

Our school website, www.stcasimirschool.us, also provides our school families with up-to-date information while introducing prospective parents to the good news of St. Casimir Catholic School.
