Technology Education
Our SmartBoard
Weekly computer instruction is offered to all students (PreK4 through Grade 5) in our fully networked technology lab. Our middle school students use their skills learned cross curriculum and also use Internet distance-learning -- Google Apps. Our technology program is designed to provide students with the technical skill necessary to utilize technology in their other studies. Skill instruction is often done within the context of the content areas. The lab is available to teachers for class use to supplement regular classroom instruction with Internet research and use of Microsoft Office applications within curriculum. In additions to our technology lab, oyr school has two 18-laptop mobile lab carts and two LCD projector and laptop cart systems with our interactive SMART Boards housed in our Intermediate and Middle school level classrooms for curriculum learning use. In our Primary level classrooms, each class houses several student desktop computer systems for the students with Internet access. St. Casimir Catholic School uses PowerSchool – a technology-based administrative student information system and progress report card. Parent access website is https://archbalt.powerschool.com/public.
Art
Weekly art instruction is provided to all students in K-8 in our well-equipped art lab. Projects and activities are age and developmentally appropriate. Students are often involved in community endeavors, and art is displayed in neighborhood settings such as the Canton branch of the Pratt Library or Fells Point Gallery. An annual Art Fair showcases student work within the school. The art program supports the core content instructional programs with interdisciplinary activities.
Music
Music instruction is provided weekly to all students in Pre-K3 to grade eight. There are also various other opportunities for music at St. Casimir Catholic School. The school’s chorus is open to students in grades 3-8. In addition to the annual Christmas program, the chorus entertains at the Home & School Association’s May meeting, for invited guests and traveling to Future Care Nursing Center and senior citizen groups.
Physical Education/Health Class
Students from Pre-K3 to grade eight enjoy weekly physical education classes. Instruction focuses on skill development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. In addition, various after school sports clinics and opportunities to participate in sports teams are offered. A Field Day and picnic is held each spring at Merritt Point Park. Our middle school students also receive instructions about nutrition and exercise during a weekly Health class.
Spanish
Weekly Spanish is offered to all students from Pre-K3 to grade eight. In addition to learning Spanish fundamentals, students are exposed to a variety of cultural traditions throughout the school year.
Library
Weekly library skill classes are scheduled for all students from Pre-K3 to grade five. Students learn appropriate library, study, and research skills. Middle school students use the library as a resource appropriately as part of their regular instructional program. All students have the opportunity to check out library books. Classes also take advantage of the nearby Canton branch of the Enoch Pratt Library as well.
